What is cold processed soap?

Cold-processed soap is a traditional soap-making method where oils and lye (sodium hydroxide) are combined at room temperature, without the use of heat. The oils and lye undergo a chemical reaction called saponification, which transforms them into soap and glycerin. Glycerin, a natural byproduct, is known for its moisturizing properties. This method allows the natural properties of the oils, butters, and additives to remain intact, resulting in a soap that retains the benefits of the ingredients.
